Craft Show!

Wow! I've wanted to try a craft show for a while now, but fear of the unknown got me and I haven't made the plunge. Insert great sister and bam, she signs you guys up for a show in your hometown. Ahhhh! I'm so excited, a little nervous, and SO tired! With 2 days left until the show, I've got at least 3 more bags/purses to finish, and a whole bunch of other little projects, and I've got to finalize out displays... yikes!

I'm sure it will all come together and it will be a great learning experience, so if you're in the local area come keep me company at the 3rd Annual Greener Living and Harvest Celebration at Snoqualmie Winery. And while your in town don't forget to enjoy the great Prosser Balloon Rally... great fun for the whole fam!

Snoqualmie invites the public to celebrate the fall wine harvest and the natural quality of the Northwest at its third annual Greener Living & Harvest Celebration on the winery grounds in Prosser, WA.

Visitors can enjoy locally sourced bites paired with Snoqualmie’s organically produced Naked wines, listen to jazz music from the Vintage Reserve Jazz Band, and browse the offerings from green-focused local vendors.

Admission is free and open to the public. Snoqualmie is located at 660 Frontier Road, Prosser. For more information, contact the winery.

The Headboard Saga

Do your best to look past these 2 munchkins and what do you see?! Besides 4 other unfinished projects? (Yes I counted them... nightstands need to painted, lampshades need to be replaced with something bigger, curtains need to be hung instead of towels (seriously!), and decorative pillows need to be made and/or bought... and that's just 1 picture in 1 room... my life is full of projects in the waiting right now!)

Well if you can look past all of that you will see a beautiful handmade headboard! Thanks to Lis and her persuasion, enthusiasum, and persistance; my hubbies mad skills with a rip saw, desire for me to actually finish a project, and willingness to help desire to get our house back in order; and last but not least :) my crazy ideas, blogging addiction, and inadequate/incorrect plans... both households have rockin' headboards! (How's that for a run-on!?)

We drew out plans Friday night for these beauties, went to Home Depot at 9:00 at night to "price them out" or so I thought, and came back with the materials to build them.

Add a snow storm into the mix and you get a weekend full of building a headboard in your living room, including, but most definitely not limited to... drilling, sanding, and painting!  Hey at least we Tyson saved the sawing for outside on our front porch, I'm sure our neighbors got a kick out of that one.

We're absolutely giddy about them!

A Cardboard Box Masterpiece

What do you get when you combine, 2 snowed in kids, 1 bored mama (with no TV or computer!), 2 cardboard boxes, and a little creativity? An over-the-top cardboard box doll house! See for yourself...

This little beauty comes complete with a spraypainted exterior, custom wall paper, a swimming pool, and a set of beautiful french doors leading to a private deck.  :) What can I say?! I was really bored!

Here's a few other images from our indoor adventure...
And probably one of my favorite moments of our entire week indoors was when Hallie came busting out of her room laughing and smiling like this... what a nut!

Mr. Turtle... the coolest bean bag ever!

I've been planning a giant bean bag since before Micah and Hallie were born, and soon after I decided it would be a turtle. We had one until I was well into my teens, and quite possibly out of the house and we loved it! So for the last few years I have saved all of my scrap fabric... we're talking little 1/4" strips scraps and used them to stuff this sweet little fella!

So without further ado... meet Mr. Turtle the Bean Bag

He'll be loved for years to come...

And quite honestly, abused for years to come!

(I'm so sorry Mr. Turtle but they really do like you... I promise!)

Mr. Orange's New Best Friends

Mr. Orange, meet Mr. Green and Mr. Brown... your 2 new best friends.

Seriously, it only gets cuter (of course only until the bright pink cast makes its appearance, but we'll just pretend we don't see it because we are so distracted by the absolute-over-the-top-adorable brown boots... or I should say boot. :) I've got enough supplies left to make 1 more of these puppies for $16.00... email me (link to your right) with your request and size.

Speaking of Auntie Kendra

It was her birthday the beginning of May, Micah and Hallie made her a birthday video...

and I got crafty and made her a knitting bag set... The knitting needle roll

with pockets for needles and a flap to tuck needles under...

and the yarn/project holder which has a handy strap to slide over your wrist while knitting
It was a fun set to make because I made them from scratch without a pattern, the bag and the roll turned out how I had planned, but with some struggles the yarn bag (essentially a 'drawstring' bag), turned out even better then I had envisioned... gotta love that!

And speaking of bags, I have a couple trial bags/purses in the works which will be up for sale hopefully by the end of the week depending on how fast we can get the rest of the house unpacked! I'll keep ya updated!

Photo Storage and Birthday Giveaway Winner

Amy!! You're the winner of some yummy Amish treats!
If you're anything like me, you have a ton of pictures on your computer...
Well our poor little computer couldn't handle the 1000's of pictures we had on it, so I needed to get them off but wasn't quite sure how to store them. So I thought and thought and thought some more, which took me back to my Rec Therapy days at Tamarack. The school teacher there used this method for storing pictures of the kids. It's simple, but brilliant and cheap...
1st step: Weed through your pictures, deleting any you don't want or need
2nd step: Burn a cd of the photos, sometimes I did 1 month per cd, sometimes more
3rd step: Using your photo program of choice open the cd. I used both Google Picaso (free program... thanks Alisa!) and Adobe Photoshop (not so free, but a great Christmas present... thanks mom!) Photoshop was the best, the thumbnails were smaller and used less paper, Picaso thumbnails were much bigger, needing more paper. Most programs have a choice when printing to print thumbnails or a 'contact sheet.' Select this option and print away!
4th step: Grab a 3 ring binder and some page protectors, slide your contact sheets into the page protectors, along with your cd and you've got a terrific simple, but brilliant storage method for your photos!

Photo Fun

Remember way back in the day when I talked about my attempt at photo editing... yea probably not, but in case you use your reader like me and rarely visit an actual blog itself you might not have seen my fancy little "email" button.

If you have well then just enjoy it some more :) This is one of my favorite pics because it depicts my life as a mom and there are very few pictures of me with the kids. Tyson has the "husband hates the camera syndrome," so I am usually behind the camera.

Before
After

I am a total amateur when it comes to photo editing. I admire the work of so many great photo editors, (you know who you are!) and some day when I'm all out of crafting projects or need a break I may actually take a class and learn a little more! But until then I'll edit a photo using my amateur experimental techniques hoping I figure out how to make the photo look just right or just give up on adobe and open up picaso for a quick fix!

Craft Challenge

Somehow in my blogging adventures I came across this fun site where there is a monthly craft challenge. She creates a crafting kit and places the kit for sale in her etsy shop for $5. With the kit you make anything your heart desires using at least one of each of the items in the kit. Then she holds a contest where people vote for the project they like best.

So click here and go vote for the Hair Bow Holder I made. Actually just go vote for the one you like best, but of course it should be mine... :)

Latest project

My crafty sewing kick continues... I just finished the burp rags and listed them on my ETSY site http://www.sweetdaisydesigns.etsy.com/ and decided I would experiment with a dress for Hallie. I love this the peasant style and when I found this Alexander Henry fabric it screamed cute peasant dress! So here it and she is :) And I couldn't resist a few extra pics cause she's so dang cute!

I LOVE cuddles!

And of course Micah didn't want to miss out on the photo shoot :)

If anyone is interested in a similar dress I will be selling these, but only on request... I don't have the time or energy to build up a stock right now :) Shoot me an email or a comment and we can work out details :)

Great Scrappin Deals

For all those out there that still scrapbook the "old fashioned way" with paper and stickers and stuff instead of on the screen, there's a great site with lots of great deals. So I thought I would share the scrappin' love :) so visit www.peachycheap.com for lots of great deals. They have 1 item (usually a group of items) for sale everyday at a killer price, the catch being it's only available for that 1 day so you have to check it everyday and once it's gone it's gone. Great sale tactic huh!?! Anyway check it out and enjoy!

Beach Birthday Party: The goods

I enjoyed this theme SO MUCH! It was tons of fun! Not to mention it was for my kiddos FIRST BIRTHDAY!! which makes it that much more fun!

You might notice something different about this post... there are way less words and no descriptions, not because I don't want to share, but cause I'm starting a new blog for all my crafties and big hint hint for possibly selling my crafties. :) scream yay for me! It's still a work in progress, BUT if you wanna know how I did all these goodies you'll have to go visit my *other* blog (feels a little scandalous!) http://www.sweetdaisydesigns.blogspot.com/ I'll be posting them soon!
