Sweet Deal for Amazon GC

Have you all heard of

They are one of the many sites out there nowdays offering a "daily deal" which comes to your inbox every morning. You can personalize your location so you can get great deals near the city you live in. You can also set the settings so you DON'T get daily deals in your inbox every morning if you're overloaded with "junk mail." But this is definitely one you don't want to miss out on!

Today's Deal is a $20 Amazon gift card for $10, and if you sign up through this link you should get $5 in deal bucks, which means you can get $5 off another daily deal.
Are you still here, still reading? If so, stop and run now before they run out.

And to be totally fair and honest, I will also get $5 in deal bucks when any of you purchase a deal AFTER using this link to sign up. So help yourself and share it with your friends as well!

Music Time

**I wrote this post in 2009, but for some reason it wasn't posted, we've misplaced Hallie's cd and will be ordering another.  Read on for more info- they're great! You won't be disappointed... maybe just a little annoyed with the songs you'll have stuck in your head, but your kids will love them!"

My aunt Donna gave Micah and Hallie these wonderful personalized cds about a year ago. We've listened to them almost daily since we received them and each time they have come on Micah and Hallie love them! We had a little lapse in listening (a couple weeks) and just started listening to them again... the result was delightful! Micah had a huge grin and started 'dancing' ie bouncing up and down in the most uncoordinated fashion imaginable. Hallie went straight into her 'dancing' ie. Night and the Roxbury head bob and arm wave. Anyway you look at it, they love these cds, which have 12 songs all personalized with their name within the song. Thought I would share the link with you so you, they really are great cds!

So visit http://kidsjukeboxinc.com/ and order your own! :)

I'm back!!

Did you miss me?? :) Our Internet was having issues this last week, on for a minute off for a minute so I couldn't post anything :( But my new hero, the comcast guy, came and switched out our modem and we're back! My week "off" gave us lots of time to get out and enjoy the gorgeous weather for a couple days and shop for the not so gorgeous weather. We found lots of goodies this week...

Target 75% off clearance was most enjoyable (I love those little orange tags, don't you?!)
And I suffered through horrid DC traffic for 1hr 30min to hit up a HUGE consignment sale. The sale was a wash for me... tons of stuff in one location, but a little overpriced; a long drive, but I only had to go out once; and a HUGE line, but lots of good stuff! So I probably wouldn't drive this far again, but if there is one closer to us I don't think I could stay away!

We got lots of goodies, but the one thing that made the whole trip worth it and makes me smile over and over again are these...

8 bucks for these over the top, ultra adorable, hot pink cowgirl boots!! Pretty sure she's gonna wear them everyday!!

And not to leave Micah out... he got some new kicks too :)
This makes post 196... only a few to go til the giveaway! I've got some great stuff planned! :)

Great Scrappin Deals

For all those out there that still scrapbook the "old fashioned way" with paper and stickers and stuff instead of on the screen, there's a great site with lots of great deals. So I thought I would share the scrappin' love :) so visit www.peachycheap.com for lots of great deals. They have 1 item (usually a group of items) for sale everyday at a killer price, the catch being it's only available for that 1 day so you have to check it everyday and once it's gone it's gone. Great sale tactic huh!?! Anyway check it out and enjoy!

Making your own baby food

Making your own baby food is a great way to save some cashola and even better yet keep your little one's nice and healthy! I've been making baby food for the last few months, and we have saved so much money and can feel confident about what we are feeding our cuties!

Here's the low-down...
(we go organic- which is the only way to go but that's a whole nother rant!, but obviously it would work for non-organic too)
  • A bottle of organic baby food costs about $.50-$.90 a jar, by purchasing organic equivalents of the same I am able to make about 4 jars of baby food for $.50!!!!
  • I know EXACTLY what is going into that mouth- and don't have to worry about the hidden extras they put in baby food (any food at that!) I broke out a jar of applesauce the other day and the SECOND ingredient was high fructose corn syrup- I'm sorry but applesauce tastes fine without the poison thank you very much! (I'm really not that fanatical, ok maybe i am, but if you pay attention they add that stuff to EVERYTHING now!)
  • Did I mention it is WAY cheaper!?! cause it is!
  • It is SO simple

Here's how it's done...

  1. buy your food of choice
  2. cook it by your method of choice- (we usually boil the foods on the stove) until it is soft
  3. throw it in the blender with the water from boiling and blend it!
  4. when you have the right texture, pour it into containers- we use empty baby food jars and ice cube trays. that's right ice cube trays! if you don't have enough trays to store all of the food cover them and pop them in the freezer, once frozen pop the cubes out and store in an airtight container- we use gallon sized bags and suck the air out :)
  5. food stores for about a month in the freezer, 48-72 hours in the fridge.

I do buy some jars of baby food from the store to see if they like the food and for on the road. You do have to be a careful only make a little bit to start out with- they loved winter squash in the jar, but gagged when they ate mine! The website wholesome baby foods is a WONDERFUL resource for this and can answer pretty much any question you can think of.

This really is SO easy, I'm gonna pull the mom-of-twins-card here- if I can do this so can you!
