Attack of the babies

We have a new all-to-common phrase which is uttered around our home, "attack of the babies." We've been using it now for a month or so, and I got to thinking oh my goodness we, who am I kidding, I haven't blogged about this yet!! I would love to include a little photo of the priceless phrase in action, but low and behold it would be a little hard unless the camera was within arms reach. Maybe that will be my "game" for this week- get to the camera during attack of the babies- that could be fun. :)

So without further ramblings, you wonder what is "attack of the babies?" Attack of the babies occurs when you are tending to one child (who may be crying, screaming, needing to be held, getting diaper changed- in other words screaming and squirming, or on rare occasion just "chilling") AND the other child pulls him or herself to a standing position using your legs and begins to cry, scream, grunt, etc. wanting the same attention from you that the other is getting. Which leaves you STUCK, your only options are to A) bend down and attempt to pick up the other B) bend down and stay down, attempting to console 2 babies, or C) peel one off your legs and run for the nearest distraction. (of course being followed by 2 screaming-even-harder-now babies!) C is often our method of choice painful at first, but effective :)

Now this doesn't just happen when you're holding the other child, "attack of the babies" can also occur when on the rare occasion I am cooking dinner, or at any other time of the day I may be trying to get something done. SHAME on me for attempting to clean my house!! :)

Oh the joys of twins, or maybe this just isn't a twin thing?

Invitations

These are the invites I've created for Ty's gp's 50th wedding anniversary... I'm having a tough time picking a fav. I would welcome ANY tips from those digital ladies out there, like I said before, the 50's theme does nothing for me- not really my style. So with that said, I wanted something a little classy, but still portraying a definite 50's theme... what do you think?
I was thinking a little embellishment on the top of this one... ribbon of some kind???
obviously not with our pic in it :)

Shelly's Bubbly Baby Shower

Better late then never right?? So remember way back when I mentioned the next baby shower I was putting together for my sis? ummm... so yeah, I'm only now posting about it.

I apologize in advance for the poor quality of pics, but thank you SO much to Kristen, shell's friend for even taking pics!! Without her there would be like 4 pics total! and since my desktop is still out of comission, I have some pics on there that I can't get to:( So lesson learned, take pictures of things before the actual day (if you can) AND find a sitter! My other sis's boyfriend (who is totally awesome btw!) did a great job of entertaining phil and lil, but we already abuse him enough so subjecting him to cranky babies who don't like to sleep at grandma's house wasn't on the top of my list that day!

SO with ALL of that stuff said, here's the goods...

The diaper cake- super fun one! I used a wooden letter on top attached with a small stick, girl baby words printed on colored paper and punched out with a circle punch attached with an even smaller stick. (I think I used skewers lol!) Binkies attached with ribbon, random flowers, ribbon and I later added a pair of baby shoes above the big bow. This table has a ton of stuff, starting on the right side of the table... we played "guess how many gumballs are in the bowl" game we used punched out circles (like on the diaper cake) for people to write their answers and also sprinkled various circles as confetti on the tables, the wind however had other ideas and sent them to the grass! The invitation is displayed (the close up is lost on the desktop) The game gifts are in the basket, I think they were soaps and stuff from B&B works. a pic of the happy couple :) and the cute clothesline made by shell's friend Kristen is draped across the front. This is SO super easy, but SO super cute! It goes great in Madison's room :) Tins found in the dollar section at target, stuffed with crinkle paper, Madison's name stamped on bright colored paper, punched out with a big circle punch, and attached to a stick! SO EASY!
The wonderful cupcakes thanks to Jen! Jen, correct me if I'm wrong, but the cupcakes were reg. choc cupcakes topped with Wilton's buttercream frosting using a cool tip (don't know what kind!) and sprinkled with some sprinkles and a gumball on top- i don't think these took us more than 30 minutes to frost and sprinkle :) Thanks Jen!
I'm so sad the close ups are on the desktop for a lot of these items, but I used the leftover napkins from Tania's shower, but took the tags off since Shell wasn't having twins! I made these really cute drink umbrella's. I found the idea on Martha's website, here's the link. I used cute paper with yes you guessed it, circles! All you do is punch (or cut) out a circle- I think I used 2 1/2", cut a line from outside to the center, pull cut edges together, and adhere using tape or double sided tape or even glue, and stick a skewer through the center! and wala! you have your cute drink umbrella's!! Also found on Martha's site, are the tissue paper balls... I had my sis make these who hates crafts (love ya sis!) I don't think they were too hard to do. It's eight sheets of tissue paper folded into 1 1/2" accordion strips, tied in the center and spread apart- they only thing that bugged me is i thought it made a ball, but you have to put 2 together to make a ball :(
The party favors- I found the idea on splitcoast stampers. Click here for the one I scraplifted :) You can find more in the gallery under 5-in-1 templates. And again I apologize, the close ups are on the desktop :( The inside has pink jelly beans. There were like 500 versions on splitcoast stampers when I looked- so you can check them out there too :)

Staying with the bubbly/gumball theme, I used a melon baller and made a fruit bowl with cantaloupe, honeydew, watermelon, and grapes.

If you look behind my mom (on the right) you can see again, circles on sticks, these one's were just bigger.

And of course one last pic of the girls of the fam :)

Remember the inspiration??? I think we achieved the vision I was going for! yay!

You've been good to us...

We're saying goodbye to our $20+ a week habit, last wed I bought the last 2 pack of formula and we're getting ready to move on to good ol' whole milk! We're super excited, well really our wallets are super excited, but d$oes anyone have any advice on how to transition them to milk? I haven't spent a lot of time researching this and I'm a little at a loss as how to do it!?

Future track star

I caught Micah doing laps in the entryway- pretty sure he's training to be a track star, he was at it for a good 5 minutes!

happy birthday

If you're local- I'm throwing an impromptu SURPRISE cake and ice cream get-together tomorrow (Sunday) evening 6:30pm for Ty. It will be in our neighborhood park (by the roundabout). Call or email me if you have any questions :) and let's hope the weather gets better!

It's a BIG one!

Happy Birthday Hubby!

I'll give you a clue, it's the one after 29 and the one before 31! I know I know it's a tough one to figure out, but the number is not to be spoken in our household. :)

I usually make jokes about ty being an old fart, cause he's got me by a couple years, but I don't think the jokes will go over well this year- he's having a rough time with this one. So I'll skip the jokes and just say HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I think the hardest thing for me is not the age, but not having him here for his bday- he's still playing military man. :( We miss him SO much and can't wait for him to be home so we can celebrate!
So here's to my goofy, sweet, hilarious, energetic, passionate, adventurous, enthusiastic partner in crime!

a fun new gadget

The freedom this gadget will provide is endless! No more shoving groceries and failing to shove bags of groceries into the stroller! I'm so excited to use it!

For the record

I've only been pulled over 2 times in my life... this time and about a year ago. I was always SO proud of the fact that I had made it 10 years without ever getting pulled over, mmm... not so much anymore! And the first one was totally stupid, it was for running a yellow light- in fact so yellow I never even saw red and I was looking cause as I went through the intersection I saw the policeman ready to turn right and I wanted to make sure it wasn't red. Ridiculous! But really I think I learned my lesson this time- I hope... now I just need a bluetooth and I'll be completely legal!

Busted

In my boredom of driving home from bham, with Micah and Hallie by myself (again!) I created a little song to describe the adventures on my trip... to the tune of grandma got ran over by a reindeer:

Stacey got pulled over by a copper driving home this quiet eve
Copper says there's no such reason to speed
but as for me and babies we now watch our speed!

Phew! is all I have to say- pretty sure I was doing 80+ in the hills between ellensburg and yakima, thankfully no ticket, a nice officer, and a lesson learned!

I'm an auntie!

My sister finally put us out our misery! Madison Joy arrived at 12:38am 9/11 after 3+ hours of pushing (yuck!), with beautiful red hair like her daddy. She was 7lbs 7oz and 20 3/4 inches. Mom and I were so excited to actually make it in time for the birth! My sister is a trooper and Madison is SO sweet!

3rd times a charm?

My sister is going into the hospital again with contractions "too painful to work through." The question is could this be it... for real? Well just in case, I'm packing our bags and we're heading to... Prosser and then hopefully Bellingham! Wish us luck!

The best one dollar investment EVER!

Seriously only spent a dollar on this toy on clearance at the BX, best dollar I've spent in a LONG time... they simply love it! They spend at least an hour a day "attacking" the thing- it's great! I can never seem to get a video to load on to my posts, SO you get a bunch of pics instead! Just try to imagine a lot of baby grunting, growling, and giggling and you'll get the idea.

Single parenting sucks!

I'm flying solo for a few weeks and it sucks! Nothing makes you appreciate having a spouse more then not having one! No tag-teaming Phil and Lil, it's either me or well me! Yes thankfully, I can and do get help from my family and T's family, but still seriously it sucks. It's definitely not the same as having someone here- especially at night for those occasionally cry at night moments(not me the babies!) and for mommy nap time- oh and I almost forgot for those double meltdown moments (SEE PIC ABOVE)! the house seems so quiet- well considering my husband, it's no wonder it feels so quiet when he's away! We miss him and can't wait for him to get home and maybe even stay for a little while! Here's a few shots for daddy :)

Bad to the bone

Silly as she is, Hallie LOVES to chew on celery! Ummm... pretty sure how on earth do you pick a fav out of these pics?? No way I could so you get all of them!

1950's

My assignment: create invites for ty's grandparent's 50th wedding anniversary celebration

My plan: watch 50's inspired movies
  1. Greece
  2. ???? I have no clue, I'm so mainstream any suggestions?

My ideas:

  1. diner inspired black/white checks
  2. sparkle stars
  3. vinyl records
  4. "vegas"
  5. pic of them from the 50's

The creation method: handmade or digital???

My thoughts: not so into the 50's theme for invites, the ideas are definitely not flowing. I'm drawn to the more "modern" 50's look, but want the 50's theme to be obvious- so some how I plan to pull off a more "modern" obvious 50's look??? we'll see- the possibilities are endless!

burp cloths

Before last week I had a HUGE box full of stuff, ok really junk, I've bought over the last few years for various projects. Well I got rid of most of the junk at the garage sale, but held on to a few things I still really wanted to do and now that our house is clean I can actually do them!! So 2 projects down and a few more to go!

I saw the idea for these burp cloths on this blog, so this is my version- i think the lucky winner will be my sis if she ever decides to have the baby!!! They are made from cloth diapers, I totally should have used darker thread, but I didn't want to have to go out and buy some, oh well- Enjoy :)

And the class clown award goes to...

HALLIE!!!

Hallie is such a GOOF lately, she definitely takes after her dad in a lot of ways. She gets so excited, has so much energy, loves to have people's attention and she's always putting on a show. Here's some shots of her goofy faces...

She's such a GOOF!!!!

Fun canvas project

In the mayhem of garage sale week and the tail end of declutter summer, I found some time to decompress after seeing this super cute idea at a scrapbook store in bham (which is totally my new fav! too bad I don't live there- oh wait doesn't it rain a lot there? maybe it's a good thing!) anyway I totally had to scraplift this one so here's my version...
