New Wheels

Our Graco DuoGlider just isn't doing the trick anymore, it hasn't been for awhile now, so I am proud to announce that tomorrow we will be the new owners of a LONG awaited BOB stroller!

We've wanted one of these since the day we knew we were expecting- actually before the day we knew we were expecting, but with the logistics of having twins (we wanted a stroller that the car seats went with- come to find out it would have worked with the BOB, but that's besides the point) and with all of the $$$ that goes along with having kids, it just didn't happen.

But tomorrow we'll head to REI armed with our 20% off coupon and our REI dividend we're going to be strollin' in style for a whole lot less then the actual price of $569.00 (which just happens to almost be worth more then Ty's car trusty little red, which we are selling if anyone is in need of a cheap car!)...
So happy early birthday/mother's day to me! (which happen to fall on the same day for me this year!)

It's a great day at the Thomson house!

MIA

I've been MIA for too long! I am so behind on blogging its ridiculous, with the weather warming up we've been out and about seeing the sights! And on top of all of the fun we've been having... I feel like I've been pulled in a 1000 different directions!

Anyway, its all good directions, but when you add all off the small things to the big things, it makes way too many things! Know what I'm sayin'? We've had a crazy few weeks- on top of all of the small things my sister came to visit, we started a very strict diet, and we're moving tomorrow... have I mentioned I am so sick of moving?!? Cause if I haven't, I am... really sick of moving! We are moving out to a cute little town on the Chesapeake Bay, we decided the city just isn't for us... so we'll enjoy a summer in a beach town! It's called Chesapeake Beach... its small, rural, and unique. You can visit the city site here and see some pictures of the area here. Our new place is out of town and surrounded by TREES! I love mountains and trees and rural settings and the beach and cute little towns... so I think we found a great place!

So I think I've done enough slacking for tonight and should finish packing up. But before I do I'll leave you with a few pics for your viewing enjoyment.

Motivation

I discovered how to motivate Ty to go places over Easter weekend...

FOOD!
We finally made it to Ben's Chili Bowl a DC favorite... and now a Thomson favorite- their chili cheese fries are delish!

I used the food motivation the very next day and said we should go get some Philly cheesesteaks... so guess where we went :)

Twin dilemma #362...

I write this post, not to complain or for your sympathy (but you can give me a little if you want!) but to merely identify the evolving process of going places with twins. I recognize that having 2 or more children (well actually 1 child as well) of any age complicate things and I don't believe this is merely just a twin issue... issues are merely multiplied when there is more then one child of the same age. So read on, enjoy, and just remember (as I try to!) it could be worse- I could have triplets!

Tyson and I are anything but 'homebodies' we love to go places... lots of places and that hasn't changed with kids. We still love to go places as you all have probably been able to recognize from following our blog! Well now Micah and Hallie love to go places. It is a common occurrence to get Micah up from his nap and have him start frantically waving his hand bye-bye. Here he is ready to go after I told him to get his shoes and socks. Well going 'bye-bye' has always been an ordeal with twins. First it was carrying 2 car seats out to the car (with all of the baby gear x 2), then it was carrying both out to the car, either at the same time or separately depending on where we were, then there was the stroller to the car, which could add one extra step, needless to say its always been a process.

Thankfully the process is getting a little easier with age and independence... or maybe I'm just getting used to it?? Either way, it feels a little easier. I add the word "little" because we still definitely have our processes and new dilemmas arrive on a regular basis. So here are the scenarios of our current stage-

Scenario 1: They can now walk and hold our hands out to the car which has been SO great, but along with this also comes the desire to walk where they want to walk... which can lead to tears and dragging of feet. Just in case your not getting the full picture here... carrying a diaper bag, bent over holding a hand in each of my hands, one child starts to drag the feet- on a graceful day (if you can call it that!), scoop that one child up in the arm they were holding and continue onto the car attempting to open the door and get both children in. Definitely not pretty and that's with only one child protesting the vehicle... I'll leave two protesting up to your imagination! Our apartment complex offers 2 options at this point, either take a flight of stairs with both children or walk around the long way... its a wash between the 2, we usually do whatever I feel like doing at the time or whichever we are parked closest to!

Scenario 2: Take them out of car, put them in stroller, walk around the long way and into the house. About half way down the "long way" Micah usually realizes we are going inside, despite the fact I've been telling him this since we pulled in. And this is the result... (just imagine a high pitched scream cry and you've got it!)

(This is a typical sight following a trip to the store- thus the reason I LOVE the mommy hook!)
Scenario 3: (which is our new favorite!) We have 2 wonderful push toys, a stroller and a walker, they follow me remarkably well with them, we go the long way, I run ahead to the car, put our things in and open the door and by the time they are to the parking garage I am ready to scoop them up and put them in! Not always crying-free, but I've found as long as the toys stay within sight, it helps.
Until the next dilemma this is our best option. I don't know how long this option with last as the best, but until it loses its effectiveness we'll use it and abuse it! So next time you head out to your car either with your children or without, just remember I feel your pain!

Easter

Most people plan ahead for Eater outfits, but that wouldn't be in true Stacey fashion to do something ahead of time! To give myself a little credit- I did look for several weeks, but just couldn't find something I loved and was matching! On our way home from Philly on Saturday I realized I still didn't have outfits for the kids. So Saturday night at 9:30pm I decided to pump out a cute (and matching) dress for Hallie, was done by 12:30 (after some frustrating hiccups in the dress making process) and ready for church at 8 am! It turned out great and T was wonderful and let me take a 3 hour nap after church... sweet sauce I LOVE long naps! Overall we had a great Easter day, of course we missed our families and good big family dinners, but
it was enjoyable and relaxing. Enjoy our uncooperative toddler pictures :)

And a little better shot of the dress...

And if you haven't already seen enough cute easter posts, check out my sister Shelly's here...

she's whining about only 2 people reading her blog, so if you don't go now and prove her wrong :)

Can't get enough

Micah has developed a new obsession, he LOVES tractors. He longingly stares out the window at the tractors for long periods of time everyday. Has a tractor radar anytime we are out, with any beep beep beep, or at the sight of anything yellow (including taxi cabs and buses) we hear "TRACTOUR, TRACTOUR, TRACTOUR," coming from the back seat.

Because he loves them so much we (well really mainly Tyson) decided we needed to get him a tractor, so we headed out to the toy store last week and bought him his very own tractor. The kid didn't know what to do with himself in the tractor aisle, he was signing 'please' the entire time pointing at all the different tractors, it was hilarious! We finally decided on one and he is now the proud owner of his very own big yellow TRACTOUR!

A Picture for all the Aunties

I tried to get a picture for the aunties with this cute shirt one of my cousins gave us, but Hallie wasn't having it... so auntie Kendra, here's to you :) Hopefully she won't learn the arms crossed move though!

**We have many pictures from our childhood of my youngest sister pouting and/or crying with her arms crossed

Winner Winner Chicken Dinner!

The winner with the most answers correct is... Lora! she answered 9 of the 10 questions correctly! Good choice to email your answers :) I'll be sending you the soup, chocolate, and apron. There were several of you closely followed with 8 out of 10 correct, but overall everyone stayed above 50% Nice job guys!
Wondering exactly how you did? Well here's the correct answers...
1. Tell me who's who? Micah on the Left Hallie on the right
2. Who usually rides "shotgun" (in the front) of the stroller? Bonus entry if you can tell me why! :) Micah usually rides shotgun cause he pulls Hallie's hair, Hallie pulls his hair also, but unlike her, he doesn't scream when it is pulled! Less screaming while were out the better! Only a couple of you nailed this one!

3. Who's feet are on the left and who's are on the right? Hallie's feet are on the left, Micah's on the right. Her feet are smaller and have a bigger arch AND if you look at the pants, her pants are fleece lined his were not! :)

4. Micah or Hallie? Hallie 110%

5. Micah or Hallie? Micah 120%
6. Who's older? Micah or Hallie? **Bonus entry if you can tell me how much older they are!**
Hallie is older by 1 MINUTE! That doctor was workin' fast!

These next 2 are courtesy of Ty and are tough! I even struggled! So good luck!
7. Micah or Hallie? After second glance not as hard as I thought, BUT still had to think about it :) The first is Hallie

8. Micah or Hallie? The second is Micah
9. Were they born in Richland, Pasco, or Kennewick? Pasco! Lora nailed this one with the description and all :) Because I worked for the Lourdes Network, we went to Lourdes Hospital... and it was great! The staff was wonderful!

10. Who walked first? Micah or Hallie? **bonus entry if you can tell me how many months they were when they started walking** :) Hallie started walking first, officially walking right after we got to DC making her almost 14 months old, Micah followed a couple weeks later :)
And now for the random winner straight out of the hat...

She gets the Super helpful "mommy hook!" (and chocolate of course!) which hopefully she will love as much as I do since she also has twins!

I'll send the packages early this week!

Comin' and goin'

Well its finally for sure... we're staying in DC until the end of September. It's definitely with mixed emotions I write this... I want nothing more then to be back in Washington surrounded by the family and friends we love a miss so much! (here comes the but!) BUT we are having a great time seeing what the East Coast has to offer and it has been SO great for our family to actually have time together and despite a change in our status over here (I'll spare you all the military lingo and details and just say we're losing the big perks of our housing and rental car) we will still be better off financially then we were in WA. (how's that for a run-on!) So we'll stick it out over here for the summer and then we should be on the move back just in time for Madison's birthday and Kendra's wedding!

There is good news in here though... we're comin' home for a visit! I booked the tickets tonight and I'm SO beyond excited, Micah and Hallie need some grandma, grandpa, auntie, uncle, and cousin LOVE!! So watch out Washington! The Thomson's will be back in just over a month!

AND if you haven't already... click here to enter the contest cause tomorrow's the deadline! If you don't feel like playing the game just leave a random comment and I'll enter you in the random drawing! :)

AND while you're at it go check out these great giveaways (and blogs for that matter!) Click here for some super cute crafty stuff and giveaway and here for great movie commentary and contest.

AND because no post is truly complete without a picture here's a random one for ya...

Hugs!

So Micah really does love Hallie! He seldomly touches Hallie and usually squirms if she hugs or touches him... which she loves to do. But we've had a breakthrough!! He has given her hugs or laid his head on her shoulder 3 (yes, count them THREE!) times in the last 2 days! This, however, is the best shot I could get... well really it's the only shot, but at least there's proof! His arm was behind her back, but he slipped it out before I could have true evidence. :)

NY... Hallie and Micah Style

Hallie and Micah's weekend in NY was spent lounging, sleeping, and mainly just being miserable! Here's pics from their 'exciting' trip to NY! Like I said before, we can't wait to go back and hear "wowww, wooowww!" coming from the backpack carriers as we walk around the city! I think the next trip will be much more enjoyable for all of us!
