I know you guys haven't been able to think of anything else all week, wondering what our adventure is so I'll put you all out of your misery... we're going to Washington DC for 4 months!! How's that for an adventure!?! It gets even better let me tell you... we're driving the whole way! with 2 one year olds! and we're leaving the 1st of December!
Who? When? What? Where? Why? How? you ask... well I already told you the who, when, and the where so as paul harvey would say... "here's the rest of the story"
What: Tyson has always dreamed of doing something with the military around the DC area, something came open, he applied on a whim and got it! He will be the program manager for mortuary affairs/honor guard at the Federal Guard Bureau- not only an awesome opportunity for his military career, but for his civilian career as well! double bonus there
Where: we'll actually be living in Alexandria, VA he'll be working on Andrews AFB
Why: well I answered some of those above, but it also pays twice what he makes now, and is an awesome opportunity for our family to see and do things that are pretty difficult living over here
How: We'll pack up our bare necessities in the good ol tahoe (and maybe a trailer) and head on out! K maybe not that simple but I don't want to think about everything that has to be done in the next couple weeks! and yes if you didn't catch this at the beginning I think we are OFFICIALLY NUTS for driving across the country... so if anyone has any traveling advice with little ones let me hear it PLEASE!!!

I'm glad you guys finally got the news! We are going to miss you sooooo much! Good thing it's only 4 months! Jacob drove quite a bit through Colorado and Wyoming the last couple winters and he said Wyoming would be the better way to go. He said it's flatter and a lot more predictable than the Colorado Rockies!
OH MY GOODNESS! What an awesome adventure!! Are you driving I-90??? I can hear it from my house when the windows are open!!! Please stop and see us if you can.
Ok I just did a mapquest from WA to VA and you do drive right by our front door! PLEASE come stay the night with us!!!
P.S. Annie says PRETTY PRETTY PLEASE WITH A CHERRY ON TOP!
P.S.S Oh please come and stay with us!
That's AWESOME!!! My best road-trip suggestion with kids is a DVD player with lots of their favorite movies. Saves us every time. :) Can't wait to hear more and to see pics once you get there...
My biggest advice? Don't expect it to be terrible! If you have a positive attitude, I'm sure your kids (and you) will survive! Having spent SOOOO much of our children's life driving....I can tell you it will be okay! :-) Oh yeah, and have lots of snacks, and be prepared for them to zonk and be off-schedule (but seriously...if you can at least keep them on a 3 hour Babywise schedule...life goes SOOO much better)!
Oh, and I am SOOO excited for you! My other word of advice? Pack simple! Don't go overboard and buy a trailer. Learn the joy of packing just a small amount, and living on it :-) Heheheee...
Congrats again!
Yay! I'm so happy to be in the loop! We are so excited for you guys, what a fun adventure! The awesome thing is that my sister, Cristy, and her new husband live in Alexandria! They will be so happy you guys are coming and I'm sure would be happy to show you around...will you be in the same ward? I would think maybe so! How fun! Now there is double the reason we would have to come for a visit at that time! My sister also drove there from here, so if you are wanting advice on cool stops, or ways to go, she might have some. Anyways, congratulations!!
You will LOVE DC. When we lived in Ohio and Kentucky we went there every spring break for oh probably 10 years. I'm so excited for you. Hope you get to see Mary's family on the way. Be safe; we've driven from Ohio to Utah in the winter and it can be difficult in bad weather.
WOW!!! how did I miss this news!!!
You'll have a great time there. We vacationed there when Alexandra was 18 months old and loved it. Someday I want to go back.
We'll miss you while you're gone :)
Kristn told me the wonderful news. I think that it would be fun to move somewhere like Washington DC. You will be back in time for the kids to be youngs still but not to old for family to see them grow. Have fun!
Holy cow! What an adventure!!! If you pass through Cincinnati give me a call. :-)
I've been such a slacker in the blog reading department (except angela's)...so how did I find out about your big adventure?????
I went to my parent's house tonight & my mom tells me Tyson is upstairs asleep. "WHAT?!?!" So she filled me in.
gosh, I feel like an idiot.
Good luck & have fun! I love the DC area & hope you do too!!
